Graham sells original paintings and drawings, prints and cards with cars and motorobikes and local scenes as his main subject matter.
I was made redundant from my long term Civil Service photography job in October 2010 and now am a self employed artist and photographer.
I started painting in October 2009 after joining David Ochiltree’s art class in Churchdown, Gloucester. I’ve been sketching/doodling all my life but quickly realised that I could actually draw and paint. Since redundancy I’ve carried on learning with the help of many library books and lots of trial and error. I get totally lost to the world when I’m drawing and painting and count myself very lucky to be able to indulge myself in this way.
I enjoy spending time at Prescott Hill Climb near Cheltenham and have used my photographs from there as the basis for most of my pictures so far.
I use Windsor and Newton Artists Watercolours along with sprayed Copic ink for some backgrounds or pigment pens and a dip pen for drawing. I mainly work on Fabriano HP watercolour paper. I start by printing a photo to work from, then spend some hours drawing a pencil framework from it and then watercolours and ink as I fancy.
I make my own digital prints and cards using pigment inks on quality paper using archive quality mounts, fixings and tape on all work.
