Jane's ranges of work in Bourton Artisans include pottery, fine silver jewellery and greetings cards.

When you use one of my pots you are using something made by someone who loves food. No mug is made without my imagining the taste of tea, coffee or cocoa, no bowl without the smell of home-made soup, no oven dish without the sight of lasagne or plum crumble being presented to eager guests.  Robust and practical, my pots are designed for everyday use and decorated in a way which I hope makes them visually pleasing but not overwhelming.

For my silver jewellery I work with silver clay, which doesn’t behave very much like ceramic clay!  However, I’ve wanted to make silver jewellery almost as long as I’ve been making pots and have recently launched Cloth And Clay Fine Silver.  Silver clay fires at 900oC to become fine silver (99.9% silver) and is slightly softer than sterling silver (92.5%), so all my earwires, chains, jump rings etc. are made from sterling silver.  I use the clay in a variety of ways - moulds which I make myself, rolling and cutting, impressing, painting the paste onto fresh leaves - to create a range of unique hand-crafted jewellery.

I also make lightweight plastic earrings, which are the ultimate in colour and frivolity - bright spotty fish, leaves, circles and much besides will brighten any outfit.
